Sept. 2019 Newsletter

Dear friends of harp music, I hope you had a great and restful summer! I was busy playing for the Hot Summer Nights festival in June through mid July, but took a nice break in August to spend time with my kids. We had some nice family trips to Colorado, Branson and Buffalo National River in Arkansas. I am refreshed and ready for another season of performances and teaching. Pastor Terry Overfelt and I are excited to start the 9th season of Harp and Healing services on Tuesday September 3th. This is a 45 minutes long ministry of classical and therapeutic harp music intermingled with inspirational and thoughtful readings. The service was created as a space/time/gift for those who are heartbroken. For those who lost a loved one, gone through divorce or are coping with an illness. The atmosphere is very meditative and non intrusive. Whether you are experiencing these things or you just want to join us for the relaxing music, you are welcome! Free and open for all, 5.30pm at Broadway Christian Church. Dear friends of harp music, I would love to invite you to the following events in May. Tomorrow, Friday May 2nd - Odyssey Chamber Music Series concert at 7pm at First Baptist Church downtown. I have been practicing for about a month now to polish the harp part for this special concert, I will be playing Cantilena and Scherzo by Gian Carlo Menotti for harp and string quartet with the Esterhazy string quartet. It has so many pedal changes it's unreal, but that stays hidden from your view! If you can, please join me! More information: https://www.odysseymissouri.org/ On Sunday May 5th at 7pm in the Missouri Theatre we have the final Missouri Symphony Conservatory Concert. This is a culmination of the semester's worth work for Junior Sinfonia, Young Artists Philharmonic and Chamber Players. Two of my talented harp students will be performing with the orchestra. Dear friends of harp music, I would like to invite you to the following events this month, although I will be playing more in Springfield than in Columbia! On April 2nd we hold Harp and Healing at 5.30 pm at the Loft of Broadway Christian Church. This is a monthly service, free and open for all. Whether you are in need of any kind of healing, be it physical, spiritual, relational or just want to listen to relaxing live harp music and inspirational word by pastor Terry Overfelt - join is tonight! Tomorrow I am going back to Springfield for the rest of the week of rehearsals leading to the performance of Bernstein's opera Candide this Friday night with the Springfield Regional Opera. Dear friends of harp music, It's March and we still have snow on the ground around us. As much as I enjoyed this winter, I am ready for beautiful spring and looking forward to Spring Break at the end of this month. But before I head out of town late this month, there are several events and concerts I would like to invite you to. Tonight at 5.30pm, Loft of Broadway Christian Church - Harp and Healing, monthly service of live therapeutic harp music and inspirational words by Pastor Terry Overfelt. Free and open for all in need of healing, be it physical, emotional, relational, healing from grief. This coming Sunday, March 10th, 7.30pm at First Baptist Church I will join the Columbia Civic Orchestra in their Missouri Composers Project. The Columbia Chamber Choir joins the CCO to perform new works by Missouri composers,which are selected by a competitive process, during the seventh annual Missouri Composers Project. February 2019 Newsletter

Dear friends of harp music, with the new month I would like to invite you to some events that I will participating in with my music. But first let me tell you about a few highlights from this past January. I enjoyed playing with the MU Wind Ensemble in concert in Saint Louis ( Touhill Center ) and at the Missouri Music Educators conference at the Lake ( Tan-Tar-A). While our church hosted the Room at the Inn ( homeless shelter) in January, I took my harp and played for the guests. I have done this annually for a few years now and both I and the guests enjoy the experience. We talk, and I play some songs and it's very special. Personally, I loved the snow and all the school days off, when life slows down, kids stay home from school and we can go sledding and build snowmen, I hope there is yet more to come! January 2019 Newsletter

Dear friends of Harp music, Happy New Year! Hope this finds you well and rested after the Holidays. We had a wonderful time off with the kids, took time off from teaching and performing over Christmas and new Year with the exception of playing New Year's Eve dinner music at MU Club. December went by fast, Harp and Healing on December 4th saw about 150 people when artist Vesna Delevska created a beautiful painting during this hour of slow and soothing Christmas Carols. We had a anonymous donor come forward and buy the painting for BBC. So it will be on display for future Harp and Healing services! That said, we plan to have Harp and Healing tomorrow at 5.30pm at the Loft of Broadway Christian Church. It's a service filled with hope, healing and breath and at the same time place and time for sorrow, tears and prayers. Join us in this quiet nondenominational service, come light a candle for your concern or for your loved ones. Pastor Terry Overfelt makes us feel at peace each and every month and I try my best to contribute to that by therapeutic and sacred harp music. Other than that January is generally pretty quiet month for me. My husband's and my students will be performing at our studio cello and harp recital on Saturday the 26th at 3PM at Broadway Christian Church, in case you are interested. Dear friends of harp music, with beginning of December, I would love to invite you to public events and concerts I am playing this month. On December 1st and 2nd the harps of local harpists and my students will sound at Holiday Home Tour. Featuring 4 beautiful Columbia Homes decorated for the Holidays - The Missouri Symphony League Fundraiser. Harps will be sounding live at the Tina and Mark Workman house. We will join you in your journey of sorrow and healing with live peaceful Harp music, inspirational words, candle light and live painting. I am so delighted that two special guests agreed to join Pastor Terry Overfelt and myself. 2018 November Harp Concerts and Healing Harp

Hello friends of harp music, I apologize for this late night email, but I got way behind over this weekend and the kids being off school today (and tomorrow). Anyway, I hope it's not too late to invite you to Harp and Healing tonight Tuesday November 6th at 5.30PM at the Loft of Broadway Christian Church. Despite election tomorrow, we will go ahead with H&H as planned. For those who are interested, this is a monthly service, where I provide 45 minutes of soothing relaxing live harp music and our minister Terry Overfelt provides readings or poems and prayers on the subject of healing. This service is meant for people going through life's difficult situations such as loss of a loved one, illness, recovery, divorce etc. So if you are going through any of these situations, please join us, also feel free to forward our invitation to anybody who could benefit from it. 2018 October Harp Concerts and Healing Harp

Dear friends of Harp music, September has been very busy for me and really flew by. Some of my favorite moments included performing in collaboration with an incredibly talented artist Vesna Delevska in Saint Louis, our family mini vacation to the Smoky Mountains, performing for Super Sam foundation and a Fantasy themed wedding in Castle Unicorn in Iowa. Now I am looking forward to events in October (and my birthday too!) Some of the private events I will take part of will be weddings in Missouri and Illinois and an employee recognition dinner for 3M.
