2018 September Harp Concerts and Healing Harp

Dear friends of harp music, It's good to be back! I went to Slovakia to see my family and friends for most of July and August. Now I am back to teaching and performing, kids are back in school- in fact all three of them full time! For the first time in 12 years, I don't have a little one with me at home at least a few days a week.  ( Sob) But, on the bright side, it has been nice not to have to practice at night only these past 2 weeks so far. :-) I am excited to restart Harp and Healing, we will continue to meet first Tuesday of each month at 5.30 pm at Broadway Christian Church. I will play therapeutic music and Pastor Terry Overfelt will have inspirational readings to share. I am sorry to announce that Tim Carson retired from Broadway and we will miss him. Terry will take on the pastoral leading role for H&H and we will continue our monthly services of healing, relaxation, renewal and prayer. Please join us on September 4th at 5.30PM at the Loft of BCC. I am so grateful for the spotlight we got for this service just this morning on the radio.  Here is a segment from Radio Friends with Paul Pepper, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzOEJG30iW8&feature=youtu.be Another public event I am playing for this month will be in Saint Louis. The event is on September...

July 2018

2018 July Harp Concerts and Healing Harp

Dear friends of harp music, as July approaches, I would like to invite you to the remaining concerts of the Hot Summer Nights festival. Tomorrow at 7.30pm we are performing La Boheme - my favorite opera. We have a wonderful cast of lead singers. The singers are part of Resident Opera Artists program and 4 singers are chosen every summer to come to Columbia and take the leading roles in the opera production with the Missouri Symphony. Around 100 singers auditioned in New York and in Columbia when the auditions took place in March. We have additional roles covered by a great local singers and chorus. So do not let this opportunity to hear them slip by! Friday June 29th Missouri Theatre 7.30 pm.   Next performance is Silent Movie with live music on Sunday July 1st at 6.30pm - Missouri Theatre. There is no harp in that one, but it's always amazing to watch how the music is synchronized to the  silent movie. It's 3 short Charlie Chaplin movies this year. Then on July 3th at 7.30pm our ever popular Patriotic Pops concert. Music of Americana and patriotic standards this bellowed concert always fills the hall to the brim. Our resident opera artists take part in this concert as well. ( Missouri Theatre) On July 7th, my stepdaughter Chloe Trevor will come to perform Sibelius Violin concerto and the MSO will play Dvorak's Symphony no.9! Chloe is an amazing concert violinist and Dvorak's 9 is a classic! 2018 June Harp Concerts and Healing Harp

Dear friends of harp music, for those of you who know me well, you know that my summers are filled with music! I am the harpist for the Missouri Symphony - an international festival orchestra that pulls musicians from all over USA to come to make Columbia their home for next 6 weeks during the Hot Summer Nights festival.  It's an incredibly talented group of musicians and I am honored to be a member and only one of the handful of local players. Our musicians arrived 2 days ago and we are ready to perform our first concert tomorrow Thursday June 7th, at 7pm at Stephens Lake Park. It's a free concert, family friendly, bring a blanket or a folding chair to sit on. After we kick off the season, a roller coaster of concerts will last next 6 weeks. We have  masterworks concerts, pop concerts, free family concerts,  tours and free outdoor concerts around Columbia, Patriotic Pops, fully staged opera - La Boheme, Silent Movie with live orchestra performing music to it and I am probably forgetting a bunch. It would take me an hour to just list them all. But I am really looking forward to playing with Missouri Contemporary Ballet this Saturday, Oscar Night at the Movies concert, La Boheme of course and Dvorak's New World Symphony. Please check out our full season at  http://themosy.org/hot-summer-nights-2018 and also check out these posters bellow. Most of the concerts are at the Missouri Theatre, so when you walk by pick up our flyers and brochures. Have a great summer!

Dear friends of harp music, I would love to invite you to a very special Harp and Healing service that we have planned to close our season with before we part for the summer. Harp and Healing is 45 minute long service of live harp music creating a healing ambiance in a quiet sanctuary. Tim Carson has inspirational readings between the songs, Tim brings a very special aspect to this service and I truly couldn't do this without his support! H&H happens every month, but this time we have a very special guest - artist Vesna Delevska from Saint Louis is joining us to live paint. Vesna specializes in painting to live music and I had a privilege to play for her in her gallery in February. I am so glad she accepted our invitation and you will be able to experience her artistry. Since this is the last Harp and Healing of our 7th season we decided to celebrate it with some lemonade and cake in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Vesna's finished painting will be on display and available for purchase through Silent auction. She is also bringing some additional paintings that will be displayed. Please check out Vesna's website www.vesnadelevska.com Whether you consider coming for the healing atmosphere or relaxation, please join us, it's free and open to everyone! One of our attendees described it as " the massage for the soul"  :-) I have been invited on several shows to promote this special Harp and Healing, here are the links, if you are interested.
