About Maria
Maria has enjoyed a varied and successful career as a harpist in the USA and Europe.
She currently serves as the Principal harpist of the Springfield Symphony MO, maintains a private harp studio and a busy solo performance schedule.
Maria studied harp performance at the Slovak Conservatory of Žilina and then continued her
Graduate studies at the Academy of Music and Fine Arts in Bratislava. She was immediately appointed the harpist of the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic in the Czech Republic and later the harpist of the Slovak National Opera. In 1999 she was a featured recitalist at the Seventh World Harp Congress in Prague.
Since moving to USA, Maria has quickly established herself as one of the most sought after concert and orchestral harpists in the Midwest as well as a special event and wedding ceremony performer. She has been featured with numerous orchestras in the Midwest and performs solo recitals as well as cello and harp duo concerts with “51 Strings”.
Maria enjoys bringing elegance of the harp sound to many weddings, corporate and private events each year.
As a recording artist Maria released 4 solo albums – Healing Harp, Romantic Harp and Christmas Harp and her latest – Sacred Harp released in 2023. Her music can be found on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube.
As a teacher she brings a wealth of experience to reach a broad age range of harp students. She maintains an active studio and her students include young classical players, but also include singer-songwriters, folk harp performers, as well as those numerous adults just playing the harp for the sheer joy and pleasure of making music.
Giving back to the community, Maria initiated more than ten years ago, monthly Harp and Healing services where she plays therapeutic music for those in need of healing, whether it’s physical, emotional, or grief related. These services continue today each first Tuesday of the month. Harp and Healing provides an environment conducive to emotional and physical renewal. Some of the music from this ministry eventually became the best-selling album Healing Harp.
In addition, she plays for a variety of special groups bringing her music to the homeless, nursing homes and mentally challenged care groups.
Maria is married to international conductor Kirk Trevor, and they divide their time between the USA and Slovakia with their three children.
